Basics of The Mind & Brain
In psychiatry, mental functions cannot be understood independently of brain function. Emotional processes, thinking, memory, sleep, and wakefulness are all closely linked to the activity of the brain. Advances in neuroscience and sleep research in recent years have significantly deepened our understanding of the relationship between mind and brain.
This section covers foundational knowledge for understanding this relationship, including the neural basis of mental phenomena, the mechanisms of sleep and wakefulness, and processes such as development and memory.
